hello my name is Kellie. you can call me Kellie or Awesome :D Asia Film Week 2009, 13-15th November 2009.
workshops i attended:
1 Day Film School – Filmmaking from A-Z with Dov Simens,
Directing – with Michael Watkins
and
Cinematography – Elements of Cinematic Expression with Peter Wunstorf.
workshop i missed (oh so regretfully):
Art and Business of Visual Effects & Cinematography with Jeff Barnes and Peter Wunstorf. (i heard this was the best!)
so anyway!
everything started at 9am sharp (wow). the opening ceremony was just sad.
the first one – 1 Day Film School with Dov Simens
so anyway!
the lecture hall was freezing like hell i couldnt move my hands at all cuz i was wrapping myself with them the whole time. it was quite an honor la, learning from him.
during his lecture he was very loud. he would suddenly scream at us calling us idiots, which i would JUMP to. like, i would be sitting there quietly listening, then he would scream and i would literally Jump 1cm off my seat. 0_0
i think he saw that because i was straight up in the middle of the hall, and during one of the tea breaks, he came to us and said (damn softly, whispering) hello how are you guys today. was i too loud? hahaha he is just so cute.
i DID learn alot (that i may not be using just yet) from his talk though :)
and then when i went to take a picture with him (below), he taught me one thing.
when you take a picture, always stand on the right. because then, in the newspapers (or just simply anywhere), the captions will read, “Kellie Ong and Dov Simens”, I’ll be the first name people read and they just won’t care about
“and who…” haha, you get it? :)

so the next day, Michael Watkins.
He signed my book! :)
Also learned alot from him! :)
He is nice and friendly. Very geng leh! :):)
during the sharing, he just simply called out 4 people to sit in the middle of the hall.
Then he just took a camera and showed us, easily, more than 10 great angles! :)
wow just amazing. it was like, no thoughts, just do it. and its so great! i love him, hehehe
and he’s started Prisonbreak, and said when they were filming, there really were alot of prisoners inside.
and everytime they went in to film, they had to walk past the prisoners, and for some reason they would want to make friends with him and all sorts. it was weird. but hahaha i love wentworth miller <3

The last day.
Cinematography – Elements of Cinematic Expression with Peter Wunstorf.
He is just awesome!
Quotes:
If you wanna learn how to tell a story, Just do it.
Take a camera, shoot anything. And just create a storyline.
There is no right or wrong way to shoot.
The best way to learn how to shoot, is to edit badly shot stuff.
Filmmaking is the theory of Montage.
He was just brilliant. hmm brought us out to show us some examples too.
and also even live demo-ed for us, how to play with lighting etc. just awesome!
Last but not least, this is Jeff Barnes.
He is just so amazingly friendly! I managed to take a pic with him.
He also signed my book. Very regretful I missed his class.
and i’m only naming those that im familiar with. omg right?
Overall, a great experience!
